“When I discovered the enneagram 25 years ago it was as if I found a sacred map I didn’t know I’d lost. It made astounding felt- sense in my bones as a framework to embrace so many paths of healing and integration work that I’d long been pursuing for myself. With great gratitude for the mapmakers’ brilliance, I quickly came to realize my work with the enneagram was to help the map come to life as a multidimensional craft for exploration …to guide others and to teach new guides.”
An intimate and depth-cohort experience, limited to 12 people committed to their own and the group’s experience, with 5 sessions over 8 weeks.
To coach or guide others with any degree of mastery requires that we not only engage deeply with the person we’re in service to, but also help them to discover and engage their own ability to explore their inner landscape with intellectual curiosity and heart-based self-compassion.
The enneagram, when used with expertise provides a unique full-spectrum map and set of skills for learning that can be used in service to self and others.
The Cohort Experience: We’ll take time in the beginning to co-create a safe and honest container / environment that will allow, evoke and conspire to bring out the best in each of us. Based on the belief (and many years of experience) that the mastery of teaching comes as much or more from the group’s influence on each other, we’ll use the wisdom, commitment and vulnerability of our collective participation to masterfully ground the learning.
Each participant will complete a thoughtful self-assessment and have a one on one session with Dan in advance of the first session. It is helpful if you have completed your own enneagram typology test and have some basic knowledge of the model first, but not required. If this is the case we’ll need to start that process earlier.
The Basic Framework:
In advance of the first session you’ll be directed to or provided resources to have the basic framework of the enneagram model. Early on we’ll make sure everyone first has a cognitive understanding of the model and its use:
Primary types — your own and how to help people clarify theirs – with certainty. (this in itself can be an art; one-third of people are consistently mistyped)
Wing types – how one is dominant, yet both influence in different areas of life and how the dominant wing can change over time and with life circumstances, and how to help others identify their own
The dynamic movement nature of the enneagram — where we go under stress, when seeking security and when we’re health and integrating
Understanding the triad groupings – thinking, feeling and instinctual and the dominant reactive emotion with each type.
The instinctual variants – is our nature inherently oriented toward social, sexual or self-preservation
The Deeper Exploration:
(from here the fun begins!)
If we consider that the enneagram model and its basics are the Map, now we begin to explore and practice navigating the soulful terrain and inner-landscape.
This is an integrated process in itself – it uses our already-engaged intellect, and calls on our emotional intelligence, our body-knowledge, our instinctual knowing of self, others and the shared human experience. And that quality all explorers need – courage.
To practice in dedication to ourselves, and learning to practice as a craft-person with others:
